The third chapter of Ecclesiastes tells us that “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” Have you ever wondered to yourself, why am I even here on this earth, at this time? What is the reason for being here, breathing, and living?
Life can be so very challenging, difficult, and down right cruel. It certainly isn’t fair! Some times the pain and agony of our experiences can be debilitating to the point we want to give up on life, stop breathing, and just disappear from everyone and everything!!! We oftentimes turn to things to ease what is troubling our souls. We may turn to drugs, alcohol, sex, food, and other entanglements that seem to weigh ever so heavily upon our hearts and spirits. But there is purpose in all we have encountered and experienced throughout life. Every experience, regardless of how painful and ugly it may have been, serve a purpose.
The scripture tells us in Romans 8:28, “And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” We cannot expect only good things to come our way. There is one thing we all have in common in our human experience, and that is suffering! All things, everything, is working together for our own personal good! Although, many times, we lack understanding why our situations are the way they are. We cannot make sense of it all and God seems the farthest and seemingly unconcerned about our pain!
Rest assured, the same God that spoke the universe into existence is the same God that is concerned about the intricate details of our individual lives! He cares for us more than we can comprehend with our natural minds! He even tells us repeatedly in His word:
“What is man, that thou art mindful of him? and the son of man, that thou visitest him?” Psalm 8:4
“I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.” Psalm 139:14
“But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Luke 12:7
There are so many more scriptures and promises I can add but you get the point! God loves us beyond measure. There is purpose in life! God has given us purpose. He created each of us, gave us life, and assigned us all unique gifts and talents so we can be a blessing to others. We do not need validation from another person or from society! So, don’t hold your head down and feel sorry for your self but lift your head, square your shoulders, put one foot in front of the other and walk in confidence and faith, knowing God is on your side! He is with you and will never leave you!
Your circumstances will change as do the seasons. Learn from your experiences. Grow from your experiences. Share your experiences. We’re in this thing called life, together! We’re not an island. We need each other!
Remember, there is purpose!
Until next time friends,
Blessings
