Hi Friends! It has been a quite a while since I posted anything. I gave myself a break as I regrouped from a major life change! I will share more details later. In the meantime, let us talk about fear. So, what comes to your mind when you think of fear? Horror movies, monsters, ghosts, darkness, scary shadows, creepy noises, and the list can go on and on. There are many facets to fear, and I will not be able to cover it all here. The fear I will be referring to this time is ungodly fear. You know, the fear that nags at you and torments you, literally.
Fear can be crippling and debilitating. Fear will rob you of your aspirations, dreams, and ultimately a distorted view of one’s own self. Fear will influence you to stay neatly tucked away behind closed doors, sitting silently in a corner, or remaining stagnant in the same place year after year. Think about all the times you were hesitant to speak up perhaps at work, church, a meeting, or school because you second guessed your ability to convey your thoughts and ideas or felt like your perspective would be downplayed from others or a particular person would give you a side-eyed look. LOL! It is so interesting that as God’s highest creation, we limit ourselves based on other people’s opinion of us or our inability to calculate what the next day may bring. Why are we so stricken by other people’s opinion? Why? God did not ask anyone’s opinion when He created us (we certainly can ask our parents about this one, LOL!) nor does He need anyone’s opinion and approval to send blessings our way. We DO NOT have to fear man.
God loves us so much that we simply cannot comprehend His love with our natural mind. He has not given us the spirit of fear but of love, power, and a sound mind. A sound mind to love Him first and foremost and to love others. A sound mind to know who we were created to be and to exercise our God-given talents to uplift humanity. He has also given us power to love mankind and power to be His witnesses in our world today. We do not have to be ashamed of who we are in Christ. We do not have to walk in fear, especially these days when being a Christian or having conservative views is unpopular.
I am going to ask something of you! LOL! Not too many days after reading this, go stand in front of a mirror and look at yourself. Tell yourself, I am what God says I am, I have what God says I have, and I can do what God says I can do! Start making that declaration frequently. You will be surprised how your perspective will begin to change. Nothing happens to us that God does not allow. He knows our past, present, and future! Trust Him and do not lean into your fears.
